Owls' Volleyball Fights Hard; Drops a Pair

Fort Kent, ME 9/9/11 – If you watched the University of Maine-Presque Isle women's volleyball team take on the University of Maine-Fort Kent on Friday at the Owls' Wieden Hall, you likely would have come away with the impression that both teams were pretty evenly matched. The visiting Bengals won took that matchup in straight sets. Saturday, on Fort Kent's home court, the Owls were able to further close the gap between the two squads, but still fell 3-0 (27-25, 25-21, 25-8).

UMPI's Shaina Hood (So./Princeton, ME) had 13 digs to pace the Owls.

Earlier in the day, UMPI fell in straight sets to SUNY-Canton by scores of 25-7, 25-11, 25-15. The losses move UMPI to 0-8 on the season.

The Owls will next travel to Husson University on Wednesday September 14th, in search of that elusive first win. The teams will play a doubleheader starting at 5:00pm.
