Presque Isle, ME – The UMPI Owls women's soccer team adds Kennedy Bencivenga to their 2021 roster. Bencivenga is a local student athlete from Fort Fairfield High School where she played on the varsity soccer team during all of her four years.
During her four years at Fort Fairfield, Kennedy was named to the All Aroostook team her first year and her junior and senior years. Kennedy's family has been a part of UMPI for many years. Including a women's soccer championship, as Kennedy explained, "I made the decision to attend UMPI because my grandfather and my mother attended. My mother was apart of 1995 champion women's soccer team." Kennedy continued, "I decided to play soccer at UMPI because I think it will be a great opportunity to play at the collegiate level with my fellow Aroostook county athletes. Also I feel that being close to home gives me a sense of community."
Head coach at Fort Fairfield High School, John Ala, spoke highly about Kennedy, "Kennedy is a skilled player that is very feisty. She consistently plays with a high level of intensity. She has worked very hard over the past years to prepare herself for the college level. I'm looking forward to watching her success next season."
Head Coach at UMPI, Aaron Marston, spoke about Kennedy. "We are very excited to have Kennedy join our team. I have watched her develop as a player over the last two years and saw a great deal of improvement in her understanding of the game and her confidence. I believe that Kennedy has the ability to step in and have an impact for us right away.
The Owls family is excited to add Kennedy to the UMPI community.
