Owls Land Local Soccer Star Rhylee Kinney

Presque Isle, ME – The UMPI women's soccer team adds their first 2021 recruit. Local star Rhylee Kinney joins the Owls out of Presque Isle High School. The senior played all four years for the Wildcats, starter for three, while having the skills to play multiple positions.

Kinney spoke about her commitment to UMPI, "I decided to attend UMPI since they have the best Criminal Justice program in Maine, the college is in my hometown & the opportunity to continue playing soccer as it is the sport I am most passionate about." The future Criminal Justice student chose this major with aspirations to be a dog handler for the Border Patrol.

During her years at PIHS, Rhylee helped her team get a Class B Northern Maine Champions title in her first three years. Eventually losing in states, despite making it to the semi-finals her junior year in a tough loss to Hermon. During her senior year, Rhylee was named to the Northern Maine Class B All-Star Team while also receiving the Butch Shaw Memorial Award for Division I Girls.

"Rhylee is a tremendous soccer talent who can play any position on the field. I have watch her grow and improve every year. I believe Rhylee will have a great college career and I'm happy it's at my Alma mater."  Said Coach Ralph Michaud, head coach of the girls' soccer team at PIHS.

Head coach of the Women's team at UMPI, Aaron Marston, spoke about bringing Kinney to the team. "Rhylee is a well-rounded player with very good speed and athletic ability.  She can finish when needed and she can defend as well.  I'm looking forward to seeing Rhylee develop over her collegiate career." The Owls family looks forward to Rhylee Kinney becoming an Owls.
