The University of Maine at Presque Isle women's soccer team lands two Aroostook County transfers. Morgan Doughty and Amber Chasse have been teammates since their high school days at Ashland District School. Both also spend their first two years of college playing together at U-Maine Machias.
Doughty was stand out player in high school as she made the Northern Mane Class D All-Star Team both junior and senior year, while being named to the Northern Maine State Team as a senior. Doughty played right wing at Machias for her freshman and sophomore years, where she made the YSCC Conference All-Academic Team, the USCAA All-Academic Team and received the YSCC All Conference Player Award twice.
When asked about transferring to UMPI, Doughty said, "I decided to transfer to UMPI because it's close to home and I wanted to play soccer. In high school, I played against many of the girls who are the team and I know what they're all about." Doughty continued, "I'm really excited to play with them instead of against them. From what I saw of the team last season, I really liked the team dynamic and I hope that I can add to it."
Chasse, also an Ashland standout, finishing her senior year with 31 goals and 22 assists and was named to the All-Aroostook Team and the All-North Team. In her two years at Machias, Chasse was named to the YSCC All-Conference team twice, the YSCC All-Academic team twice, and the USCAA Division II All-American team twice.
The Elementary Education major, Chasse, spoke on how she is excited to get back in the county. "I'm from the county and I have really missed playing "county soccer" so that is a big reason why I chose to come back. I know many of the girls on the team from playing with them at soccer camps or playing against them and I'm really excited that we will all be on a team together."
