Machias, ME – The University of Maine at Presque Isle Owls women's soccer team traveled to U-Maine at Machias, in a single game finishing the match in a 2-2 tie. This bring the Owls record to 2-0-1 on the year.
The game started off in a defensive battle between the two teams, as they went into half time with a 0-0 score. A total of 11 shots in the first half both teams kept the ball in the middle of the field. The second half of the match was very different as the Owls got off to a quick start. Marissa Valdivia Reagle (Jr. Seatte, WA) scored yet again, her 3rd on the year, one in every game. Reagle's goal was in the 56th minute.
Machias would break their drought with a game by Amber Chasse in the 77th minute to tie the game. The Owls immediately answered with a goal just one minute later. The 78th minute goal came from Emma Campbell (Fy. Fort Fairfield, ME).
The Owls continued to play aggressive defense throughout the remainder of the game. In the 88th minute the Clippers were awarded a Penalty Kick bringing the game to a 2-2 tie.
Despite some injuries by some of the Owls players, they will look to come back to Presque Isle for their home opener vs U-Maine at Farmington. The Owls first North Atlantic Conference game will kick off at 4:00pm on Saturday.
