Owls Fly Past the Knights in Season Opener

Randolph Center, VT –The Owls opened their season with a victory vs. Vermont Tech.  UMPI won 4-1 in their road trip to Vermont, behind two first year players. 

The Owls came out of the gate early with their first goal coming within the first minute of the game, Sara Doughty (Fy. Winslow, ME) scored the unassisted goal in her first college game.  

Marissa Valdivia Reagle (Jr. Seattle, WA) quickly followed with a goal, assisted by Alexis Rodriguez (Fy. Caribou, ME) at the 4-minute mark. The Owls stayed aggressive as Doughty scored her second goal of the game at the 7:39 mark, capping off their 3-0 halftime lead. 

Hannah Nadeau (So. Madawaska, ME) scored her first goal of the year off of an assist by Reagle at the 78:43 minute mark, bringing the Owls lead to 4.  Tucker Chapin helped the Knights avoid the shut out with a goal at 83:38 minutes, assisted by Jennifer Grenier. 

The Owls were led by Alexis Levesque (Sr. Madawaska, ME) on the defensive end.  Levesque ended the game with 3 saves on 4 shot attempts in goal.

UMPI will play their next game at Fisher College Sunday September 8that 2:00pm.
