PRESQUE ISLE, ME – The Association of Division III Independents announced their post season individual awards on Thursday. The University of Maine at Presque Isle Women's Soccer team was honored with three first team and two third team honorees.
Senior Carla Halvorson (Easton, ME) led the Owls in goals with 13 and was named First Team All-Independent as a Midfielder. Two of her goals were game winners, and she added three assists on the year. Havlorson was named USCAA Player of the Week, AD3I Player of the Week, and AD3I Player of the Month earlier this season.
Sam Nadeau (JR, St. David, ME) made a transition to defensive back this season and earned honors as a First Team All-Independent Defender. She scored four goals and had five assists on the season, two of her goals were game winners.
Deliah Schrieber (FR, Lisbon, ME) also earned First Team All-Independent honors as a midfielder. Deliah was second on the team with ten goals, two of which were game winning goals. She also had one assist on the season.
Jessy Dickison (JR, Houlton, ME) earned Third Team All-Independent recognition as a midfielder. Jessy had one goal and three assists on the season.
Allison Lopez (JR, Kingfield, ME) was named Third Team All-Independent goalkeeper for 2016. Allie tallied 105 saves and two shutouts this season, while saving 67.7% of shots on goal.
The Association of Division III Independents consists of 13 Division III independent institutions that have joined together to recognize student-athletes at independent institutions, and to provide exempted postseason championship competition. The Association recognizes outstanding athletic achievements of its student-athletes on a weekly, monthly and annual basis. The Association provides statistical services for its members in seven sports. In addition, it will announce All-Independent teams at the conclusion of eight other sports this year.
