CHESTNUT HILL, MA – The University of Maine at Presque Isle had seven different players connect on goals Saturday in 10-0 rout of the Pine Manor Gators.
The Owls came out firing on all cylinders, putting pressure on the Gator defense from the start. Mikaelah Tracy (JR, Houlton, ME) tallied the first goal in just the ninth minute. Autumn Poulin (SO, Winslow, ME) would add to the lead just under five minutes later, and the Owls would not look back. Bethany Heald (JR, Enfield, ME) and Tracy would push the lead out to four at the half. The Owls came out even stronger in the second half, scoring just two minutes into the second half. Sam Nadeau (SO, St. David, ME) got an assist from Jordi Legassie (FR, Presque Isle, ME) to keep the attack going. Legassie would net a goal of her own in the 53rd minute to essentially put the game out of reach for the Gators. Jessy Dickison (SO, Houlton, ME) would add two more goals, Abby Deveau (SO, Littleton, ME) would score on a penalty kick, and Poulin would add the exclamation point in the 79th minute.
The Owls dominated possession, and put 34 shots on goal compared to Pine Manor's two. Jesta Gilmore (FR, Yuma, AZ) recorded 23 saves in the losing effort.
"The result puts us back on track," said Head Coach Trevor Parent. "We did well in possession and finishing. It's always nice to keep a clean sheet."
The Owls travel to Portland, Maine tomorrow to take on Southern Maine Community College. Game time is scheduled for noon.
