The #14 ranked USCAA UMaine-Machias women's team defeated the home standing Owls 4-1 in a battle of top 20 USCAA soccer teams Saturday.
Sam Nadeau would tie the match 1-1 moments later, touching the ball after a multiplayer scrum in front of the Clipper goal. Nadeau now has 10 goals to rank her #15 nationally in the USCAA.
At 22:23, freshman Madeline Aromando thrashed through the Owl defense to score an unassisted marker at give the Clippers a 2-1 lead they would take into the locker room at the end of the half.
18 minutes into the second half, freshman Brooklynne Lewis would score the second of her two second half goals to give the 4-1 lead and eventually the game to the Machias Clippers. In the second half the #19 Owls were outshot 15-6, after the Owls had held an 8-6 first half advantage in shots and an 8-0 lead in corner kicks.
Dickison, playing her first match in goal for the Owls, had 9 saves, including 8 in the second half. Aisling Farragher-Gemma stopped 6 shots for the match.
Machias is now 5-4 and UMPI is 3-5 on the year.
