Sophomore Nicole Cyr (Madawaska, ME) made a triumphant return to the playing field this past weekend, scoring two goals and assisting on the other two goals the Owls scored in an undefeated two game stretch. For her efforts, Cyr was awarded the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Women's Soccer Player of the Week for the week ending September 1.
Cyr returned to competitive play after an injury ended her 2012 season just 3 games into her freshman year.
Second year head coach Trevor Parent is glad to have a team-first athlete like Cyr back in uniform for the Blue & Gold, "Nicole has persevered through the process of recovering from a season ending knee injury and she has made the sacrifice of playing in the midfield as opposed to playing as a striker –which is not an easy transition."
Cyr and her teammates return to action Friday, playing Maine Maritime at 7pm in the Thomas College Invitational. The Owls next home match is also against Maine Maritime on Saturday, September 14 at noon.
