(MEDFORD, MA) -- Lainey Herring (Sr./Houlton, ME) scored 6 goals and the UMaine-Presque Isle women's soccer team trounced Fisher College, 10-2. The win allowed UMPI to improve to 3-6 on the season. Fisher falls to 1-6.
This was the second time the two teams matched up this season, Presque Isle defeated Fisher back on September 15th, 7-0.
It was much of the same for the Owls on Saturday as the Owls put up a pair of 5-1 halves in the victory. The Falcons took UMPI by surprise early on, scoring the match's first goal 9 minutes in. The Owls however responded by scoring the next 10 goals unanswered beginning with a Chelsea Beauchemin (So./Adams, ME) tally from a Kallie Pelletier (So./Madawaska, ME) pass.
Pelletier assisted on a 2nd goal and scored one of her own before the afternoon was done.
The afternoon belonged to Herring though. The Owls leading goal scorer coming into the contest, the senior forward nearly matched her season total of eight goals in one afternoon. Half of her goals this season have come in two matches vs. Fisher.
The Owls will look to continue its winning ways Sunday, September 30th at New Hampshire Technical Institute. Match will begin at noon.
