(PRESQUE ISLE, ME) -- Chelsea Lynds-Beaulieu (So./Presque Isle, ME) scored three goals leading UMaine-Presque Isle women's soccer to a 7-0 win over Fisher College on Saturday. The win for the Owls improved their record to 2-3.
Playing in the 2nd game of a men's and women's soccer doubleheader during the school's Homecoming festivities, UMPI was spared much of mother nature's wrath that the men's team faced earlier. Instead, for the Falcons' goaltender Jessica Russo, it may have seemed like it was raining soccer balls. UMPI put a season-high 24 shots on goal.
Lainey Herring (Sr./Houlton, ME) opened the scoring two minutes in with her team-leading 6th goal of the season. Lynds-Beaulieu punched in her lone 1st half score to give UMPI a 2-0 advantage. Jennifer Ouellette (Jr./Van Buren, ME) notched the first two goals of her season and by halftime UMPI had built a 5-0 lead.
Fisher (2-3) played the game with only 10 players and managed one shot in the contest.
Saturday's game was the home opener for the Owls, who will play their second straight home contest this Wednesday, September 19th, when UMaine-Machias comes to town. Action will begin at 3:00pm.
