About the Owls

A busy first week schedule cleared up a little for the Owls this weekend when it was announced Friday that a match with UMaine-Augusta scheduled for Sunday will be postponed until later in the season.  That leaves UMPI's sole focus for the weekend on regaining the "Potato Barrel" from UMFK, a trophy the two teams play for every season.

Last season it was the Bengals, who were ranked #1 in the USCAA at the time, coming to Presque Isle in September and earning a 6-1 victory over the Owls.  That was to be the last time UMPI would lose in 2011 as they ran off wins in their final 6 contests.

UMPI is coming off their first loss of the season, a 2-1 decision at St. Thomas University (Canada).

Lainey Herring (Sr./Houlton, ME) scored the team's only goal and has 4 tallies already this young season.

 About the Tommies

Coach Levesque is now in his ninth season at the helm of the UMFK Lady Bengals Soccer Team. The team is coming off back-to-back USCAA National Championships and head into the season winners of 31 of their previous 32 matches. With a strong core group of players returning, the team has high expectations for the season in hopes of making another successful run to a championship.

The Bengals are off to a strong start in 2012 earning wins over University of New Brunswick, Sheridan College, and Daemon College.
