Presque Isle, ME (10-8-11) -- The University of Maine-Presque Isle women's soccer team scored early and often Saturday afternoon, running roughshod over an undermanned Fisher College (MA) team, 14-0. The win was the third straight for the Owls as they improve their record to 6-4 on the season.
Fisher began the game with only 8 players, a number that was almost immediately reduced to 7 when the Falcons' Adrienne Figueroa left the contest with an apparent knee injury. UMPI took advantage building to a 10-0 lead at halftime. Lainey Herring (Jr./Houlton, ME) and Desiree Smith (Sr./Thomaston, ME) each scored three goals for the Owls. Also tallying scores were Chelsea Lynns-Beaulieu (Fr./Presque Isle, ME) scored a pair. Others tallying scores were Jennifer Ouellette (So./Van Buren, ME), Audra Kirk (Fr./Limestone, ME), Elizabeth Keagan (Fr./Amherst, NS),and Kallie Pelletier (Fr./Madawaska).
UMPI took 41 shots in the game while Owls' keeper Taylor Ussery (Jr./La Verne, CA) did not face a Falcon shot all afternoon.
They will play again tomorrow, October 9th when SUNY-Canton visits Presque Isle. The Roos will be looking to avenge a pair of losses to the Owls from last weekend when UMPI won 5-1 and 2-1 in Canton. Game time is set for 11:00am.
