UMPI Completes Season Sweep of Fisher

BOSTON, ME (10/22/11) -- Two weeks ago the University of Maine-Presque Isle women's soccer team trounced an undermanned Fisher College squad, 14-0.  Today during the rematch in Boston, the score was closer but the result remained the same.  The Owls shut out the Falcons, 3-0.

The win gave the Owls, now ranked #10 in the latest USCAA Coaches' Poll, their 6th straight win as they move to 9-4 on the season.  Goal keeper Taylor Ussery (Jr./La Verne, CA) posted her 4th straight shutout, although partial credit certainly can go to the entire Owls team who made sure that Ussery did not have to face one shot in the entire contest.

UMPI's Chelsea Beauchemin (Fr./Adams, MA) scored two goals for the Owls, doubling her total for the season.  Desiree Smith (Sr./Thomaston, ME) had UMPI's other tally, giving her 10 on the year.

The Owls will shoot for 7 straight wins tomorrow, Sunday October 23rd as they travel to Maine Maritime Academy to face the 0-14 Mariners.  Game time is set for 1:00pm.
