Presque Isle, ME, 9/11/11 – Keli McLellan scored seven minutes into the 2nd half to give her University of Maine-Farmington women's soccer team the margin it needed for a 1-0 victory over the host University of Maine-Presque Isle. The two squads played to a 0-0 halftime score, despite UMF holding a 12-3 advantage on shots.
McLellan got her opportunity while receiving a cross pass from teammate Kayla Tuttle which she put past Owls' goalkeeper Taylor Ussery (Jr./La Verne, CA) for the game's only goal. Ussery stopped 8 of 9 shots on goal including some acrobatic saves late in the contest, but on this day she would receive no help from her offense.
It was the first loss for UMPI as they fall to 3-1 on the season. For the game they were outshot by the Beavers, 19-5.
UMPI will play again next Saturday, September, 17th when they travel to the University of Maine-Fort Kent. Game time is set for 12:00pm.
