Fort Kent, ME, 9/17/11 – University of Maine-Fort Kent women's soccer player Victoria Iredale scored the first and last goal of the afternoon against rival University of Maine-Presque Isle helping her team to a 4-0 victory. The Bengals and Owls battled scoreless until Iredale's first goal at the 26:38 mark when she took a pass from Whitney Sinclair and put it past UMPI goalkeeper, Taylor Ussery.
Both squads came into the match-up ranked in the newly released USCAA women's soccer coaches' poll. UMPI is ranked #3, while UMFK came in as the #1 team on the list. The day belonged to the Bengals however as they outshot the Owls, 21-5. With the loss, the Owls record now stands at 3-3, while Fort Kent remains undefeated at 6-0-1.
UMPI will play again tomorrow Sunday, September, 18th when they host USCAA #13 University of Maine-Machias. Game time is set for 2:00pm.
