Owls Beat Wildcats 64-59

Presque Isle, ME – The Owls hosted North Atlantic Conference cross-divisional opponent Cazenovia College Wildcats. The Owls came away with the victory after a huge fourth quarter, winning 64-59. UMPI was led by Emily Wheaton's (Presque Isle, ME) 31-point game. With many of the Owls athletes suffering from illnesses, the Owls played this tough match up with only six players.

After winning the first quarter, behind a huge 14-point first quarter by Wheaton after hitting four three's early in the game. The Owls cooled off in the second and third quarters as the Wildcats came back to take the lead, 47-43. It was in the fourth quarter that the Owls took back control scoring 21 points and holding the Wildcats to just 12 points on just 38% shooting. While Sarah Musselman (Turlock, CA) led UMPI late, scoring nine points on 50% shooting in the fourth quarter.

Wheaton finished her hot night with 31 points off 10-22 shooting and an outstanding 8-17 from the three. Also adding seven rebounds and four assists. Musselman came up big late despite struggling early, finishing the game with 12 points, seven assists and only one turnover. Jelecia Ma'Gee-Hodges (Killeen, TX) also finished with 12 points and seven rebounds.

The Owls will host SUNY Poly in another cross-divisional game to close out the weekend. Tip off at 2:00PM.
