UMPI Falls Short in Close Game vs Lyndon

Presque Isle, ME – The UMPI women's basketball team hosted North Atlantic Conference opponent Northern Vermont – Lyndon in their second game of the back to back weekend. The back and forth game ended with a 62-54 loss for the Owls.

A tight game early, the Owls found themselves down by four, 34-30. Continuing to fight on the defensive end, bringing the game to a 39-39 tie with 3:30 left in the third. Going in the third down by two points. A quick 7-1 run in the first three minutes of the fourth by the Hornets, gave them an eight-point lead and they were able to hold off the Owls until the end.

Mariah Dunbar (Fy. Canaan, ME) led all scorers with 20 points and four rebounds. Hunter Mercier (So. Fairfield, ME) finished with 13 points on the night. Sarah Musselman (So. Turlock, CA) finished the night with a well-rounded game, eight points, seven rebounds and three assists.

The Owls will head to Maine Maritime Academy on Wednesday the 5th at 5:30PM.
