Presque Isle, ME – The UMPI women's basketball team hosted North Atlantic Conference opponent Northern Vermont – Lyndon in the first game of back to back. The Hornets left with the 75-56 win after a big second quarter run.
The Owls came out with a big first quarter, leading the Hornets 19-13. Mariah Dunbar (Fy. Canaan, ME) led the Owls after one, with eight points off 2-2 shooting from the three to start the game. Lyndon bounced back with a big second quarter, causing five UMPI turnovers and shooting 67% from the field in the half. The Hornets kept their foot on the gas, extending the lead each quarter and eventually winning the game by 19 points.
Alisha Celley led the Hornets with 26 points on 10-11 shooting, seven rebounds and seven assists. Marissa Valdivia Reagle (Jr. Seattle, WA) led all UMPI scorers off the bench with 16 points off 50% shooting. Reagle had nine rebounds and three steals to add to her impressive night. Dunbar finished with 14 points off 5-10 shooting and 2-3 from three, also finishing with, seven rebounds and six assists. Taylor Miller (Jr. Weeki Wachee, FL) finished with 11 points and eight rebounds.
The Owls will finished their back to back with Lyndon tomorrow, Saturday February 1 for a 1:00PM tip off.
