Norwich, NH – The Owls women's basketball team took on Wellesley in their first game of the Norwich tournament. UMPI got down early and unable to fight back, losing 62-43.
After coming out of the first half with an 11-point lead, Wellesley didn't look back. Despite a third quarter run, led by Kylie Vining's (Fy. Island Falls, ME) seven points in the quarter. The Owls were led by Vining and Hunter Mercier (So. Fairfield, ME), with their 11 points on the game. Marissa Valdivia Reagle (Jr. Seattle, WA) finished the game with six point and an impressive 14 rebounds.
Wellesley had two players finish in double digits, but their defense led them to the win, causing the Owls to turn the ball over 30 times on the game.
The Owls will play the host of the tournament Norwich in a 2:00pm game tomorrow.
