Unity, ME - The University of Maine at Presque Isle (1-1) led 8 to 7 early in the 1st quarter before going on a 16 to 2 run and then rolled to a 95 to 27 victory over the Rams in a non-conference game played Wednesday night at Unity College.
All ten players for the Owls saw significant time and shared in the offensive explosion. Sarah Musselman (So. Turlock, CA) led the way for UMPI scoring 22 points, dishing out 6 assists and grabbing 5 rebounds. Hunter Mercier (So. Fairfield, ME) connected on three 3-pointers and scored 17 points while adding 3 assists. Kylie Vining (Freshman, Island Falls, ME) netted 15 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and assisted on 3 hoops. Marissa Valdivia Reagle (Jr. Seattle, WA) contributed 9 points while recording a game-high 10 assists and 7 steals. Kassie Farley (Fr. Washburn, ME) had 6 steals and 3 assists for the Owls while Cassie Demers (So. Winslow, ME) added 5 rebounds and 3 assists. Sierra Fay (Fr. Wilton, ME) scored 6 points and dished 3 assists and Taylor Miller (Jr. Weeki Wachee, FL) added 3 assists. Alexis Levesque (Sr. Madawaska, ME) scored 9 points on three 3-pointers and Mariah Dunbar (Fr. Canaan, ME) pulled down 4 rebounds and handed out 3 assists in a very unselfish offensive display by ME-Presque Isle.
Sophomore guard Marissa Sweeney led the Rams (1-4) with 12 points and Demtria Giroux added 10.
Next up: The Owls will face tough competition this weekend at the Rivier University Tournament. UMPI will play undefeated Lasell University on Friday night at 6:00 PM and will play Host Rivier on Saturday at 2:00 PM.
