Presque Isle, ME - Five minutes into Saturday afternoon's North Atlantic Conference game the UMPI Owls trailed Husson University by just one hoop 6 to 4, however, the Eagles then raced out to a commanding 22 to 4 lead when the 1st quarter buzzer sounded. Kendra Silvers brought the Owls to within 2 points on a short jumper but Logan Huckins responded with two fast break layups and Husson would score the next 20 points of the ballgame on a run that went well into the 2nd period. UMPI point guard Sara Musselman would bury a 3 pointer on a feed from Marissa Valdivia-Reagle to break an Owls drought with 4:42 remaining in the opening half but the Eagles would completely put the game away after that.
Husson (7-5, 4-0) had six players score in double digits led by freshman Vanessa Duarte with 12, Emma Alley and Sydney Allen with 11 each, and Kenzie Worcester, Andrea Crosby and Joan Overman all added 10 points apiece. Megan Peach pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds.
UMPI (5-6, 1-3) was paced by Sara Mussleman (Fr. Turlock, CA) and Kendra Silvers (So. North Berwick, ME) who both scored 10 points. Marissa Valdivia-Reagle recorded 7 rebounds, 3 steals and 3 assists, Musselman 5 boards and Ines Ngoga pulled down 5 rebounds.
Next up: The Owls travel to Colby College on Tuesday December 8th for a 5:00PM game.
