Fort Kent, ME - The UMPI Owls came out strong for the opening 7 minutes of the 1st quarter but then it was all UMaine-Fort Kent from that point forward as the Bengals rolled to a convincing 108 to 42 victory. The Owls appeared ready to give UMFK (9-1) a battle on their own homecourt but the tide changed very quickly late in the first quarter and it was downhill for UMPI (4-4) the rest of the evening.
Marissa Valdivia Reagle (So. Seattle, WA) with eight 1st half points and Hunter Mercier (Fr. Fairfield, ME) with a couple of 3 pointers had the Owls in the game early. However, Me-Presque Isle would end up turning the ball over 22 times in the opening 20 minutes and found themselves trailing 59 to 24 at the break.
UMFK would turn the heat up even more in the 3rd Quarter outscoring the Owls 28 to 6 and the game quickly got out of hand for the visitors.
Me-Fort Kent would shoot 57.5% from the floor and were led by Trinity Washington and Alyssa Kline who both scored a game high 25 points each. Guard Tajaheray McMahan would add 18 points, Ivette Trujillo 12, and Madison Fenner 11.
UMPI was led in scoring by center Rhylee Wright (Jr. Frenchville, ME) with 14 points and 10 rebounds and Reagle finished with 8 points and 7 rebounds.
Next up: UMPI will host UMaine-Machias Friday December 14th at 7:30PM>
