Owls Fall on the Road in Opener

AUBURN, ME – The Central Maine Community College Mustangs (8-1) stretched their winning streak to six games by beating the University of Maine at Presque Isle Owls (0-1) in their season opener by a score of 81-29.

The Mustangs were relentless, and continued to execute late into the game, including a buzzer beating three-pointer that would end the game and push the score to an even bigger deficit for the Owls.

The UMPI offense would sputter and they Owls would shoot just 23% from the field.  The Owls would score 12 in the first quarter, but only manage 17 for the rest of the game.

Teagan Laweryson (SR, Moscow, ME) would lead the Owls offensively with nine points.  Knedra Silvers (FR, North Berwick, ME) would make her collegiate debut, scoring eight points and grabbing five rebounds.  Rhylee Wright (SO, Frenchville, ME) would add seven points and collect 12 rebounds for the Owls.

The Owls continue the weekend at Maine-Machias on Sunday afternoon.
