Randolph Center, Vermont -- On the campus of Vermont Tech, The Maine-Presque Isle women defeated #23 ranked SUNY-Canton 47-44 Wednesday afternoon.
Playing on a neutral court to split travel distance, both SUNY-Canton and UMPI had difficulties shaking the effects of a combined 600 miles traveled. The road weary squads had trouble finding the basket, connecting for only 35 field goals between the two teams.
The difference in the ball game was senior co-captain Olivia McNally who filled the stat sheet with a game-high 20 points, 5 assists and 5 steals. McNally was the only Owl in double figures and was a perfect 4-for-4 from beyond the arc. Darby Toth added 7 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. Rebecca Campbell helped the Owl cause with 6 points and 5 boards.
SUNY-Canton post Karyss Terrance led the Roos with 15 points and 8 rebounds.
The Owls are now 10-3 and ranked #11 in the latest USCAA Division I National Rankings. The Blue & Gold will next travel to Rutland, Vermont to play the College of St. Joseph Thursday at 5pm.
