We are pleased to announce that Emily Pelletier has been selected Student of the Month for November 2012. Emily is from Fort Kent and a senior in the Athletic Training program. Emily is Captain of the Women's Basketball Team and President of the Athletic Training Club. Emily is also the Maine Athletic Trainers Student Representative for the Eastern District Athletic Training Association. Emily is an excellent student, an outstanding role model and a leader who helps her teammates, other students and staff.
"Emily is an outstanding student and role model for all ladies on the U-Maine Presque Isle Campus. She is an outstanding leader on the basketball court, in the classroom and as a representative for the athletic training profession on our campus and the state of Maine. . . . Emily has been a great senior captain on the basketball court and a great leader for underclassmen on her team. She leads by example, working hard during every practice and every game. . . She works to make sure all members of her team are taken care of and are happy and comfortable on the UMPI campus."
"Emily's hard work and school pride is demonstrated everyday through her work ethic and desire to win!!! Emily tries her best and her passion will bring a tear to her eye when her team is not successful. . . . I love to see an athlete work that hard and care that much. On the other hand Emily will rejoice with her teammates with team success, not Emily's success but she understands her role and how it takes a team to win."
"Emily is the AT Club President. The UMPI athletic training student hosted the MATA annual student symposium in early December. Emily's leadership encouraged her classmates and fellow students to take part and host an outstanding event. Emily is the Maine rep for the Maine Athletic Trainers Association, representing all the AT students in the state on a regional board. Emily participates in monthly conference calls and helps host the student delegation at the annual conference. Emily represents the MATA and UMPI with pride and dedication."
"Emily is an outstanding young lady, she is a dedicated student. She comes to class prepared and ready to participate. She encourages her classmates with her quiet leadership style and makes everyone comfortable around her. She earned the privilege to earn her clinical hours at U-Maine this fall. She had great reviews and represented herself and UMPI very well."
"Emily's compassion for life and fellow human beings can be seen through her wonderful smile which lights up a room every time she walks into one. Even when she is dead tired Emily can smile and change the whole atmosphere in the classroom, AT room and anywhere that Emily is!!!! Emily is greatly deserving of this award. She is a wonderful person and a great student every day!!!!"
"I believe Emily is very deserving of being a student of the month candidate. Emily, academically, is a very good student. She always come to class prepared, is engaged, and asks great questions. She is very involved in obtaining the most knowledge she can from different subjects. She is also very professional in her clinical rotations . . ."
"Emily is a true leader on the basketball team, with the athletic training club, and with various other clubs on campus. She has developed a good relationship with her classmates and teammates and they enjoy having her share her knowledge and experiences during class."
"EmPell is one of the most relentless and hard-working students I have encountered in a long while. She is President of our local AT club and is the Maine Athletic Trainers Student Representative for Eastern District Athletic Training Association. She is a great leader in the classroom and did her fall clinical rotation with U-Maine Football. The AT Club just hosted all the AT students in the state and she was a great leader in the planning and execution of the weekend.
"We could not possibly have a better leader and ambassador for the basketball program. Not only does EmPell lead us in scoring, but she's a team captain. She has been teacher to our large freshman contingent on the team. On Sunday we played a double overtime game and she played ALL 50 MINUTES of the game! It was THE gutsiest performance I've ever seen from a player I've coached. When we have recruits on campus, EmPell does everything we ask of her from giving a tour, acting as a host, and answering questions from our prospective-student athlete and their families."
"EmPell is someone that our university should be putting out front as the type of people we are producing here. She is from Fort Kent but will tout UMPI to anyone that will listen and give the reasons why this was a better choice for her than UMFK."
