Saucier Earns 2nd AD3I "Player of the Week" Honors

(PRESQUE ISLE, ME) --  UMPI forward Rashell Saucier (So./Washburn, ME) has been named the Association of NCAA Division III Independents "Player of the Week" for her play over the week of January 9th, 2012.

Saucier played 4 games in that span, 3 on the road, and averaged 11.8 points, 11 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 2 steals in helping the Owls to a 2-2 record.

"I'm honored for this recognition and at the same time realize that I owe a great deal of my success to my teammates since we are constantly striving to make each other better," said Saucier.

Against Williams College (ranked #18 in the latest D3Hoops.com NCAA Division III poll) Saucier scored 11 points and pulled down 9 rebounds.

Back in November, Saucier was the first recipient of the weekly award this season when she came out of the gates averaging 16.7 points and 9 rebounds in three games.  It is the 3rd time in her career she has been earned the AD3I recognition. 

The Washburn native was named the USCAA "Player of the Week" for the week of November 28th thru December 4th.

Between awards Saucier's teammate , Emily Moore (Sr. / Lisbon, ME) has also earned "Player of the Week" recognition this season.  Moore was the AD3I's "Player of the Week" for her play the first full week of December.

UMPI will play next this Sunday, January 22nd when they host SUNY-Canton at 12pm.
