Ski Team has Strong Showing in Lobster Roll

NORTH HAVEN ISLAND, ME - The University of Maine Presque Isle ski team competed in the annual Lobster Roll held on North Haven Island, ME.  The preseason race, which utilizes roller skis, is attended by Maine's collegiate ski teams Bates, Bowdoin, Colby, the University of Maine Presque Isle, and the Maine Winter Sports Center.   The event although quite low key is always an excellent opportunity for the team to get in there first traveling opportunity and to meet members of opposing teams.

On the Men's side freshmen Matt Forshey (Scotia, NY), and Connor Hrynuk (Boonville, NY) put in excellent efforts despite traveling and competing in Lakeland, Florida two days prior in the USCAA National Cross-Country Meet.  Ian Marshall (FR, Saco, ME) competing in his first 15 K roller ski race continues to make leaps and bounds in training and has proven to be a fierce competitor. Hrynuk paced the Owls with a time of 44:04.4.
On the Women's Side Valentina Annunziata (SO, Honeoyo Falls, NY), Hilary Saucy (SR, Harleysville, PA), and Lyida Streinz (JR, Hersey, ME), all returners for the fighting Owls, had excellent showings.  Streinz's time of 45:09.2 was one tenth of a second off the lead, putting her in second place to lead the Owls.
The team heads into a recovery week before the next training block which will include a Thanksgiving camp in Foret Montmorency, Quebec.
