Presque Isle, ME – The UMPI Owls Softball team is proud to welcome their newest recruit for the 2022-23 season. Gracelyn Walsh from Grand Bay-Westfield, New Brunswick, Canada will attend UMPI next fall, in 2022.
Walsh is a pitcher that played at Harbour View High School, where she put up some impressive stats on the mound and at the plate. In her 45 innings pitched at Harbour View, she struck out 71 batters, while at the plate she held a .654 batting average with four doubles, four triples and four home runs. While batting in 19 runs. Walsh spoke about her excitement to further her career in softball, "I cannot believe my dream of playing College softball has finally come true! I am excited to further my education and play the sport I love at a great school."
Head Coach, Alissa Edwards shares her excitement in her new recruit, ""Since the time I first spoke to Gracelyn until now I have been nothing but impressed with the genuinely kind, hardworking young lady she is. She is dedicated to improving herself not only in regards to her softball skill, but also on her academics." Coach Edwards continued, "I am beyond excited to add Gracelyn to our UMPI Softball Family. She has had quite the tremendous softball career so far as a lefty pitcher and power hitter in New Brunswick. I look forward to working with her and seeing her grow on and off the field."
