Canton, NY—The University of Maine at Presque Isle Owls took on Finlandia College Lions in the ACAA Championship game. The Lions would beat the Owls 5-2 to become the ACAA Champions.
In the first inning, Emily Nguyen singled up the middle to give the Lions a one-point lead early. In the defensive battle, Roni Shaw (Payette, ID) broke the Owls drought with a single to left field to bring pinch runner Hailey Davenport (Chicago, IL) home.
Nguyen would continue her big game in the fifth with a three RBI triple in the fifth, giving Finlandia a three-point lead. Makenna Lloyd followed with a ground out to bring Nguyen home.
A double by Marissa Reagle (Seattle, WA) was not enough in the seventh as the Owls fall to the Lions 5-2.
Four of the Owls players would be rewarded with their tournament performances. P Sara Packard (St. Albans, ME), OF Jackie Peers (Limestone, ME), DP Alexis Allcock (Madison Heights, VA), IF Melanee Terry (Moreno Valley, CA) all made the ACAA All-Tournament Team.
