Rutland, VT – Day two at Saint Joseph's ended in a sweep as the University of Maine at Presque Isle Owls win 11-2 and 10-8 against the Fighting Saints.
The Owls put on a clinic on the plate in game one, with 14 hits in the six-inning game. Melanee Terry (Moreno Valley, CA) led the way for the Owls with a homer, helping with her four RBI's on the game. Roni Shaw (Payette, ID) added two RBI's, while Jackie Peers (Limestone, ME) and Brianna Losee (Pittsfield, ME) each brought in a run as well.
Sara Packard (St. Albans, ME) earned the win on the mound for the Owls as she pitched all six innings, with six strikeouts, only one walk, and allowing only five hits and two runs.
Timell Montgomery hit a two run homer herself for the Fighting Saints giving them their only two runs of the game.
Game two was a high scoring game that started with a four run first by the Fighting Saints. The game was tied 7-7 in the fifth before the Owls took control in late in the game.
Terry ended her big weekend with two doubles bringing in one RBI in the game. Marissa Reagle (Seattle, WA) continued to perform on the plate with a double herself and earning three RBI's in the game. Packard also doubled and Jordi Legassie (Presque Isle, ME) and Anaiz Diaz (Tampa, FL) each brought in a run.
Packard earned another win on the weekend in her seven innings pitched, with two strikeouts.
The Fighting Saints offense put on a show that came up just short, as they recorded 13 hits on the game. Including another homerun by Montgomery, and Kali Drum hit two homers herself bringing in three runs.
The Owls look to take on Southern Maine Community College on Friday the 27th games at 3:30 PM and 5:30 PM. Followed by home doubleheaders vs. UMF. Games are subject to change due to weather.
