South Portland, ME – Maine-Presque Isle could not hold down the bats of the Southern Maine Seawolves, losing both games of a double header 8-2 & 9-5 Saturday.

GAME ONE: SMCC 8 Maine-Presque Isle 2

The Owls had nine hits against SMCC in game one, yet could only score twice while the Seawolves used their ten hits to manufacture 8 runs.

Taylor Cochran and Katie Patenaude each had two hits for the Owls and Senior Krista Coffin struck out 14 Seawolves batters in her six innings.


GAME TWO:  SMCC 9  Maine-Presque Isle 5

The Owls started the game with a two-out rally that netted them three runs before Southern Maine had a chance to answer back.  The three run lead held with Whitney Donovan throwing well until the Bottom of the fourth when SMCC Struck back with two runs.

In the top half of the fifth, the Owls would answer back and plate two more runs to move their lead to 5-2.  The Seawolves would take the lead for good in the bottom of the sixth inning, scoring seven runs.

Amanda Allen, Shannon Brown, Krista Coffin, Brittany Luetjen, Katie Patenaude and Whitney Donovan all had two hits for the Owl attack.  Allen and Brown added doubles and Luetjen smacked a triple and scored two runs.
