(NASHUA, NH) -- The University of Maine-Presque Isle softball team split a doubleheader with Daniel Webster College Friday afternoon. After losing a 9-1 decision in game one, UMPI was sharp in game two earning a decisive 5-1 victory. The day was ultimately a tale of two great pitching performances. UMPI (2-15) managed just two hits off Eagle pitcher Amanda Wilson in the opener, while DWC scraped only two hits together in the nightcap off Owls starter Krista Coffin (So./Presque Isle).
With the win, The Owls snap a 9-game losing streak. On Saturday UMPI will wrap up an 10-day, 11-game road trip when they travel to Wenham, MA for a doubleheader against Gordon College.

DWC second baseman Amy Waller went 4-for-4 at lead off scoring four runs and Lauren Chesnulevich added a 4-for-4 outing knocking in three runs helping the Eagles to the 9-1 victory.

DWC plated five runs (three earned) in the opening inning of game one to take command with the key hit coming off Fontaine's triple. Chesnulevich, who pushed a run across with a single in the first, added another in the second for a 6-1 game and Waller's RBI triple and Durocher's RBI single upped it to 8-1 in third.
