As an elite athlete, with an aspiring dream to give back to other athletes, Terry Gaitor III will be joining the University of Main Presque Isle (UMPI) as an assistant coach for Track & Field. Not only as an athlete, but also as a coach, Coach Gaitor has had experience with the sport for over 12 years. He received various awards in the Division II & National Athletic Intercollegiate Association (NAIA).
As a coach, Terry Gaitor was a Volunteer Intern Coach for Webber International University Women’s Cross Country and Track & Field teams. Given a few athletes to train, with hopes of faster times, Coach Gaitor managed to lead his athletes to seasonal best and personal best times. While focusing on power, balance, speed, and form, Coach Gaitor saw tremendous amounts of improvements. One of his biggest accomplishments was being a part of leading these young women to the Sun Conference 2016 Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Terry Gaitor III has competed internationally a professional international football player as well, specifically in Czech Republic. Coach Gaitor is a Silver Bowl 11 medalist in Czech Republic Football. He also led his team to the championship in July 2016 as a valuable Import. While being a professional athlete, he also dedicated his time to coaching younger athletes in late Spring and Summer seasons from 2015 to 2017. He taught and built up their stability, strength, conditioning, speed, and power. As a result, his athletes demonstrated and continue to demonstrate his teachings on the field competitively.
As a track and field athlete, Coach Gaitor has competed for Benedict College and Webber International University. While attending those colleges, he became a 3-time Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Division II Track & Field finalist. He was a standout athlete for both colleges who achieved personal bests in the 100-meter and 200-meter dash, with times of 10.5 seconds and 22.61 seconds respectively. Additionally, Coach Gaitor was a part of the national qualifying Division II 4x100 meter relay team at Benedict College that ran a time of 41.37 seconds, which placed 3 rd in the SIAC.
Educationally, Terry Gaitor III will receive his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Sports Business Management in December 2017. In the future, he intends on opening his own non-profit organization named The Gaitor Farm. His motto is “Work hard until your name becomes an autograph. In order to be the best, you have to believe and trust in the process and all will succeed!”- Coach Gaitor
