Owls Men's XC Team Finish 12th at Pop Crowell Invitational

Wenham, MA - A healthier UMPI men's contingent showed its potential in this 8 kilometer race held at Gordon College on Saturday.  Thus far the Owls had raced six and five kilometers, good preparation meets for the men's standard eight kilometer distance.   The Owls finished in 12th spot, with 112 points, ahead of NHTI, Northern Essex, Eastern Nazerene, and Rivier University.  The top three finishers were U-New England, Wentworth, and Eastern Connecticut.  A healthier Nino Manzella (So. Queensbury, NY), was again the first Owl in, finishing at 31:58 and 73rd position.

Scoring was rounded out by, Kyle Davis (So. Addison, ME), 77th, 32:08, Andrew Hunt (Sr. Peterborough, NH), 82nd, 32:26, Hunter Dionne (Fr. Raymond, ME), 84th, 32:40, and Devon Maynard (Fr. Perham, ME), 101st, 34:22.  The first four Owls had a pack time of 42 seconds, a spread that should hold for the scoring five once all Owls work back from minor injuries.  A much improved Sean Miller (Jr. Presque Isle, ME) finished at 35:45 (110th place) in his first race at 8K.

Next up: The Owls will next contest the state championship meet at Bowdoin Colleg on September 29th.
