VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – The University of Maine at Presque Isle's Emmy Churchill (SO, Washburn, ME) finished 49th at the USCAA National Meet. The Men's team was fully represented and finished 16th out of 22 teams.
Churchill was the lone women's representative for UMPI and her finish was the best showing for the Owls at the National Meet since 2013. She ran the 6K course in 28:26.
Cleary University would take the Women's USCAA National Title, finishing with 38 points.
The Men's team was paced by Andrew Hunt (JR, Bennington, NH) who ran his personal best 31:26 for the 8K race, finishing 77th out of 166 runners. Hunt would pass teammate Saul Nunez (SR, Mapleton, ME) in the last half mile. Nunez would run his best race of the season, crossing the finish line 80th with a time of 31:38. Kyle Davis (FR, Addison, ME) ended with a time of 32:20, good for 95th place, while Jesse Gonzalez (FR, Othello, WA) (34:45) and Danny Gilotti (FR, Ludlow, ME) (38:14) would round out the team scoring for the Owls.
SUNY Delhi would be crowned the 2017 USCAA Men's Cross Country National Champion. They would finish with a team score of 23, 55 points in front of SUNY ESF who finished second.
