BANGOR, ME – The UMPI Men's Cross Country team competed in their first 8K of the season at the Husson Harrier Invitational on Saturday. The Owls would finish third.
Southern Maine would finish seven runners in the top eight to win the event. Husson would edge out UMPI for second place, as Unity would not record a team score.
For the second time in as many races the Owls saw a tight grouping cross the finish line together. Jesus Gonzalez IV (FR, Othello, WA) would finish with a time of 31:14, and was followed closely by Connor Hrynuk (JR, Boonville, NY) with a time of 31:19, and teammate Kyle Davis (FR, Addison, ME) who finished with a time of 32:23.
Andrew Hunt (JR, Bennington, NH) and Danny Gilotti (FR, Ludlow, ME) would finish within a second of each other to round out the scoring for the Owls. Hunt was timed at 34:01, while Gilotti crossed the finish line at 34:02.
The Owls compete next at the Pop Crowell Invitational hosted by Gordon College. That race on September 23rd will start 11:30 am.
