JOHNSON, VT – The University of Maine at Presque Isle Owls Men's Cross Country team travelled to Johnson State College to compete in the NAC Championships this past weekend. The Owls would finish 8th out of 11 teams.
Wet and muddy conditions plagued the teams as the course had standing water on some points. Despite the challenges the Owls runners all finished with season best times. Sully Jackson (SR, Wilton, ME) set the pace for UMPI with a time of 28:16.8, which put him in 12th place. Junior Trevor Levesque (Presque Isle, ME) finished 21st with a time of 29:33.4. Jake Welch (FR, Duluth, MN) ran the course in 31:42., while Saul Nunez (JR, Mapleton, ME) would cross the line with a time of 32:02.5. Terrance Reidy (FR, Presque Isle, ME) would round out the scoring for the Owls in 51st place with a time of 32:49.1. Cameron Mathies (FR, Hampden, ME) (34:23), Justin Lopez (SO, Lincolnville, ME) (35:47), and James Churchill (SO, Chapman, ME) (37:10) would finalize the team effort for UMPI.
"I am very impressed by all," said Head Coach Chris Smith. "Terry [Reidy] ran extremely well in the fifth scoring position."
The Owls will now prepare for the USCAA National in Virginia Beach, VA on November 11th.
