Ambitious initial goals and continued faster than planned starts led to slower times for many UMPI runners in this the premier collegiate cross country meet for the state of Maine.  The UMPI men's contingent placed 10th overall in team scoring with Bates College the meet winner.  Bowdoin's Coby Horowitz won the meet with a time of 26:02.

The five mile times for Philip Boody (30:59), Jesse Sandstrom (32:26), and Corey Hebert (32:48) were a bit off potentials as they finished in 82nd, 97th, and 103rd places, respectively.

Brandon Wade (34:41, 118th), Richard Landry (41:14, 137th), and David Huntley (41:35, 140th) better ran according to plan in finishing well in the field of 144.

More refined race strategies will come into play next week as the Owls will be running their own home course against Unity College, the last meet before individual qualifiers will be headed to USCAA nationals in Syracuse, NY.
