This race has developed into a much stronger meet with 26 institutions represented and 17 teams earning team scores. The Owls finished a respectable 11th over all with 195 points, only nine points out of a top 10 finish. SUNY-ESF repeated as team champions scoring the low of 38 points. UMPI runner Thomas Grylka again set the pace for the Owls harriers in finishing in 24th spot overall, in at 29:34. Close behind was Philip Boody in 36th place with a time of 30:07. Boody was but 20 seconds off last year's time, due primarily to early season injury. The Owl's scoring was rounded out by Corey Hebert (Baldwin, ME), Garrett Hilton (Charleston, ME), and Tyler Hilton (Charleston, ME). Aiden Bothwell (Penobscot, ME) was 135th.
Coach Smith's comments:
"This course was much harder than any we've seen over the last month but we were pretty well prepared. The men ran an extra kilometer extension off the women's 3K loop, a loop of 4K that was run twice, that added a series of hills with other terrain that made this true cross country. Our finish was something to look to improve upon next year."
