PRESQUE ISLE, Maine (9/26/12) -- University of Maine- Presque Isle runner Thomas Grylka has been named the USCAA Co- Runner of the Week.
Grylka has been victorious in the Owls' previous two races, most recently this past weekend at Unity College. Needless to say the bar has been set high for the young freshman.
"Thomas is a very coachable runner who is just now tapping into his potential. He is young to the 8K distance and celebrated his birthday in winning our home invitational on September 15th," said Owls' coach Chris Smith, "His win at the Unity meet on the 22nd resulted from his running a strategic race and overtaking the few runners ahead of him at the 2.5 mile mark. He is one to watch for the balance of the season."
Grylka is the second UMPI Athlete (Reynold Brown - Golf) to be aknowledged for this award. He will look to keep the streak going as the Owls' next meet will be Sat, September 29th at the Pop Crowell Invitation in Wenham, MA.
