Presque Isle, ME – The UMPI Owls men's soccer team hosted Aroostook County opponent U-Maine at Fort Kent. The Bengals took the win 5-0 in the 90-minute match. Cameron Kelley (Calais, ME) started in goal for the Owls, earning his first start, playing the first 70 minutes. The Owls now move to 0-9 on the year, as the Bengals advance to 8-1-2 on their season.
UMFK came out string with two quick goals in the 3rd and 5th minutes of the game. Continuing their pressure, they scored again in the 13th minute. UMPI showed more aggression on both the offense and defensive end, although it was not enough as they Bengals added two more goals in the second period. Scoring in the 54th and their final goal just before time expired in the 89th minute.
The Owls finished the game with 7 total shots to the Bengals 13. UMPI will host North Atlantic Conference opponent Northern Vermont-Johnson in their next game, this following Saturday October 9 at 3:30 PM.
