Machias, ME – The University of Maine at Presque Isle Owls men's soccer team wins 4-1 in the match at U-Maine at Machias. This win brings the Owls to a 2-1 record on the season, going into conference play this weekend.
The Owls came off the bus ready to play, as they scored in the 9th minute of the game! Nathan Stone (Fy. Perth-Andouer, NB) scored the Owls first goal of the game, but was not done there as Stone immediately added another goal less than one minute later! Stones second goal was assisted by Hunter Wardwell (Fy. Mars Hill, ME).
The Owls defense stayed aggressive allowing only six shots on goal in the first half, all saved by Keith Mank (Fy. Raymond, ME). Chad Bartlett (Sr. Bradley, ME) added one more goal off a corner kick by Stone in the 48th minute. In the 57th minute, Wardwell scored the Owls final goal of the game, with an assist by Andre Rossignol (So. Van Buren, ME). Pacifique Munyabarame ended the drought for the Clippers, scoring late in the game.
Mank spent the full 90 minutes in the goal, finishing with nine saves.
The Owls will return to Presque Isle for their home opener vs U-Maine at Farmington. The Owls first North Atlantic Conference game will kick off at 1:30pm on Saturday.
