Presque Isle, ME - The UMaine-Presque Isle Men's Soccer Team gave up a goal to NAC opponent UMF late in the opening half but were confident starting the second half, even though down to the Beavers 1 to 0, as the Owls (4-11-1, 0-7) had the strong northwest wind behind them for the final 45 minutes of play. UMF (4-11, 1-5) however, would continue to use the whole field with an excellent passing game and eventually go on to a 2 to 0 victory at Park Family Field in Presque Isle.
UMF's senior forwrd Ethan Cooper was able to get wide open in front of the UMPI net and drive a score home at the 37:45 mark of the first half to break a 0 to 0 deadlock between the two North Atlantic Conference foes. Me-Farmington would get a couple of more scoring opportunities but Owls goalie Caleb Thompson was able to come up with the saves and the score at intermission remained 1 to 0.
UMF would continue to control play for much of the second half with a skilled passing attack that kept the Owls busy as UMPI searched for an opportunity to break loose and tie up the game. The match remained 1 to 0 until the 81:17 mark when Cooper, from South Portland, Maine, scored his second goal of the game on a feed from Jake Heimlich putting the visitors ahead 2 to 0 which would be the final.
Caleb Thompson (So. Washburn, ME) would stop 7 shots in goal on 9 UMF attemtps, while Beaver goaltender Matthew Wilson stopped both shots on goal that he faced. UMF outshot UMPI 21 to 2 on the day and had 10 to 2 advantage in corner kicks.
