PRESQUE ISLE, ME – The Owls (2-4) have now won back-to-back games after beating the University of Maine at Machais 3-1 at home Friday afternoon.

Brandon Danforth (JR, East Millinocket, ME) would get the scoring started, just eight minutes in as he would fire a in an unassisted goal from the right side, bouncing it off the far goal post and in.  The Owls would continue their pressure in the first half and in the 34th minute Danforth would find Ansumana Morrow (FR, Presque Isle, ME) in traffic and he would find a way to put it in the back of the net.  UMPI would carry that 2-0 lead into intermission.

Machias would start to gain momentum in the second half, controlling the ball more and outshooting the Owls 6-2 in the final 45 minutes.  The Clippers' Michael Grimanis (Baileyville, ME) would cut the lead in half as time was winding down.  In the 82nd minute the Owls would get an insurance score to ice the game away.  Chris Udobe (FR, Nigeria) would connect with Cody Blair (JR, Ashland, ME) who, after sliding onto the seat of his pants, would get back to his feet and fire the ball past the keeper to make the score 3-1.  The Owls would hold off the Clippers and win by that score.

Matt Manter (SR, Caribou, ME) would have a strong performance in the net, notching 5 saves and picking up the win.

The Owls are right back at it on Saturday when they host the University of Maine at Farmington Beavers (3-3).  The doubleheader of action starts with a women's game at 1 pm, followed by the men at 3 pm.
