JOHNSON, VT – The Johnson State College Badgers (2-0) powered past the UMPI Men's Soccer team (0-2) on Sunday, pouring in seven goals on the afternoon. The Owls would be shut out for the second day in a row, losing the game 7-0.
The Badgers controlled the game from the outset and put constant pressure on their guests. Johnson Sate would put 21 shots on goal, while UMPI would only be able to get two. Six different players would score goals, with Joseph Holloway (FR, Essex County, England) being the only player to net two goals.
Johnson State would not get their first score until the 12th minute, but would add to their total quickly and compile four goals before the halftime break. Their attack would be continuous throughout the second half, controlling possession and not allowing the Owls to gain any momentum.
The Owls will be on the road next weekend. The will travel back to Vermont and take on Lyndon State (0-0) on Saturday, September 9th at noon. Lyndon State will open their season on Wednesday by hosting Vermont Tech.
