The Fighting Saints would take the advantage early, and Dominick Simpson (San Bernardino, CA) would find the back of the net with the first two shots of the game. Both goals would be assisted by Alex Andrade (Pawtucket, RI). The Owls would dig in and hold their ground, and finally answer back. In the 19th minute Derek Healy (SR, Hanover, MA) would get an assist from Cody Blair (SO, Ashland, ME) to cut the lead in half. The game would go to intermission with the score at 2-1 in favor of the College of St. Joseph's.
At the start of the second half it would be the Owls striking early. Healy would net his second goal of the day, with the assist going to Nick Sinclair (FR, Bradley, ME). Despite the Saints controlling the ball and outshooting the Owls throughout the contest, UMPI found themselves in the thick of things in the second half. Amani Francios (Broklyn, NY) would reclaim the lead for the home team, but it did not last long. Just seconds after the Saints' goal, Healy would connect on his third of the day, this time Dan Swallow (SR, Houlton, ME) would be the one to set him up, and the game would be tied at three. St. Joseph's would mount an answer quickly, hitting a shot off the crossbar on one attempt, and a few more attempts that missed high and wide, before Helder Andrade (Pawtucket, RI) would score the go-ahead goal in the 73rd minute. The Owls would get one last opportunity, but Healy's attempt to tie the game once again was saved by the Saints' keeper. The home team would keep UMPI from any other offensive attempts, and hold on to win 4-3.
The Owls stay on the road and take on Vermont Tech on Sunday. The game is scheduled for noon.
