BOSTON, MA – The University of Maine at Presque Isle took an early lead and never looked back, taking down the Wheelock College Wildcats 6-2 on Sunday.
Dan Swallow (JR, Houlton, ME) notched the first goal for the Owls in the ninth minute, getting an assist from Chris Daly (SO, Kingsfield, ME). Cody Blair (FR, Ashland, ME) would put up two unassisted goals in the first half, sandwiching a goal from Daly that Blair assisted on. The Owls would take a 4-1 lead into halftime, but were not done there. In the 53rd minute freshman Johnny Theriault (Fort Fairfield, ME) would net his second goal of the season. The Wildcats would not be able muster much of a comeback attempt as UMPI would control possession and only allow the home team three shots in the second half. Daly would seal the deal with his second goal of the game late, giving the Owls the 6-2 victory.
Both Blair and Daly would amass two goals and an assist to lead the Owls.
The UMPI Men's team will finish their regular season schedule this Wednesday when they head north to Fort Kent. Game time is scheduled for 3 PM.
