Vermont Tech Jumps to Early Lead

RANDOLPH CENTER, VT - The UMPI Owls visited Vermont Technical College Sunday afternoon. The Knights were able to defeat the Owls 4-1.

The Knights got on the board first in the 8th minute, on a goal scored by Matthew Brien (SO, Colchester, VT) assisted by Tommy Coullard (SO, Colchester, VT). Vermont Tech doubled their lead in the 18th minute being scored by Phillip Hepburn (FR, Milton, VT) and assisted by Brien. The Owls kept up pressure, but despite the Owls hard work, they found themselves down three.  Brien and Coullard hooked up for a second time to extend the lead.  After being 3-0 down, the Owls finally are given enough space for a solid shot and took advantage of it.  Johnny Theriault (FR, Fort Fairfield, ME) put the Owls on the board.  He was assisted by Derek Healy (JR, Hanover, MA) in the 34th minute. Just before the halftime break, Ali Alzamanan (JR, Saudi Arabia) scored the Knights' fourth goal, which was Brien's second assost. Both teams had more chances during the second half butwer not able to capitalize, and Vermont Tech held on for a 4-1 victory.

The Owls will continue on the road next weekend.  On October 10th they will play at Pine Manor and on the 11th at Southern Maine Community College.
